COLLEGE CREDIT
Top left: At NOLS, you won't just read about biology; you'll experience it. Bottom left: From theory to practice, lessons learned here have immediate relevance when the expedition is
your syllabus. Right: Encounters with wildlife provide a rich learning experience in the backcountry that you won't find indoors.
NOLS' COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM IS
UNPARALLELED IN WILDERNESS EDUCATION.
For nearly 30 years NOLS has offered college credit through the
University of Utah, one of the nation's premier research universities.
Every NOLS course is approved for credit and more than 75% of
our college-age students take advantage of this option. Four hundred
colleges and universities nationwide have accepted
NOLS/University of Utah credit, and many others grant their own
credit for NOLS courses.
Optional undergraduate and graduate credit is offered for the following
University of Utah courses:
Natural History of Regional Ecosystems (Biology)
Environmental Ethics, Leave No Trace and Leadership
Group Leadership Techniques
Wilderness Skills Practicum and Leadership
Risk Assessment, Management and Decision-Making
Wilderness First Responder

These courses are offered through the University's departments of
Biology, Health Education, and Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Details
for your course are available from the NOLS admission office.
ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS
NOLS and Central Wyoming College (CWC) in Riverton,
Wyoming have partnered to offer two degree programs:
Associate of Science in Environmental Science and Leadership:
During the NOLS portion of this degree program, you'll develop
environmental awareness and conservation ethics. At CWC you'll
complement this with a classic natural science education.
Associate of Arts in Outdoor Education and Leadership: Designed
for students interested in careers in outdoor education or environmental
education and activism, this degree program combines one or
more NOLS courses with education and liberal arts courses at CWC.
